Forbes features senior's invention

Our graduates tend to have an entrepreneurial spirit, and they’re certainly known to find success early in their careers, but what about our current multitasking students? Senior Olivia Pivirotto, ’19, is proving that Spiders can successfully launch a company while still studying for midterms.

Forbes recently featured Pivirotto’s invention,  SWIGSAFE™, a 16-ounce tumbler she designed with her mother to combat binge drinking and decrease the number of women who are victims of date rape drugs. Pivirotto, a leadership studies and psychology student, said she noticed a lack of awareness throughout college campuses of how much one is actually consuming. Her design incorporates a secure lid and raised inscriptions that not only help women monitor how much alcohol is poured into their drinks, but prevents drugs from being slipped in as well.
